The 2022 Grammy Nominations

The Grammy’s is an annual award show where the recording academy chooses their favorites of each nominee category. The Grammys has been going on for 63 years, going on 64. The latest nominations have been released for the 2022 Grammys, which will air on January 31, 2022. Today, I will share with you the most relevant and exciting nominees and categories.

Starting off with best rap album, this category doesn’t have many nominees, but regardless it’s a tough competition. The first is “Call Me If You Get Lost” by Tyler the Creator. This album was released in early 2021 and rocketed to success. With Tyler’s large fan base, this wasn’t a surprise.

The second is “King’s Disease II” by Nas. Nas is an iconic rapper and has been nominated several times for a Grammy, rightfully so. The third is “Donda” by Kanye West. Donda was released during the fall of 2021 and quickly made headlines everywhere as this two-hour-long album featured some of the biggest names today. Fourth is “Certified Lover Boy” by Drake. CLB came out around the same time as Donda and if you’re on social media, you know the drama around these albums. Both albums have been pit against each other since they came out.

The fifth, and last, is “The Off Season” by J. Cole. This album dropped in early 2021 and was his first in three years, giving us features with Timbaland, 21 Savage, Jake One, and others.

Best pop duo-group performance: first is “Lonely” by Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco. The heartfelt ballad was released in October of 2020. The second is “Higher Power” by Coldplay.

The third is “I Get a Kick Out of You” by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett. Fourth is “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat and SZA, the R&B duo was praised for this release. Lastly, “Butter” by BTS, the seven-man group was nominated last year for their hit single “Dynamite”.

Record of the Year: starting with “Happier Than Ever” by Billie Eilish, the 19-year-old released this early 2021. The second is “Right on Time” by Brandi Carlille. The third is “driver’s license” by Olivia Rodrigo, the pop ballad was released in early 2021 setting her off with success. Fourth is “Leave the Door Open” by Silk Sonic, consisting of artists Anderson Paak and Bruno Mars. Fifth is “I Still Have Faith in You” by ABBA, the group made this their song to return with. Sixth is once again “I Get a Kick Out of You” by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett. Seventh, we’re almost there, is “Freedom” by John Batiste. Eighth is “Peaches” by Justin Bieber, GIVEON, and Daniel Ceaser. Ninth is once again “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat and SZA. Last but not least, “MONTERO (Call Me by Your Name)” by Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow.
