Jumpstart Program

An image reading, "NOVA, Northern Virginia Community College."JumpStart gives graduating seniors at NOVA’s partnership schools an opportunity to take tuition free summer courses. Qualified students can take up to two JumpStart courses. JumpStart courses are specific courses and sections, and run from June 1 to August 9.

 

Online summer session begins on June 1, 2021 and ends on August 9, 2021. A completed application to JumpStart is due by April 30, 2021.

 

For students that are not in a dual enrollment class you should complete your application to NOVA. Following that complete the JumpStart application, go to https://nvcc.dualenroll.com/login. First time users must create an account using your personal email address and a new username and password. Returning users log into your existing nvcc.DualEnroll.com account. All students must upload a current high school transcript and any additional qualifying score reports if your GPA is lower than a 3.0. Select Summer 2021 – JumpStart as your term. Students are allowed to take up to two free classes in the summer. All steps and necessary documents must be submitted on or before April 30, 2021.

The online courses have been selected because they fulfill not only NOVA degree requirements but also transfer to most colleges and universities. Also, NOVA is partnering with Amazon Web Services, the JumpStart offerings will include an online course in Cloud Computing, providing students with their first step onto an in-demand local tech pathway.

 

All courses are asynchronous through NOVA Online (NOL). This means there will not be regularly scheduled, weekly real time meetings. Students will be expected to meet all deadlines outlined on the course syllabus. Instructors are available for office hours and may offer virtual meetings throughout the course. NOVA is using a portion of our federal stimulus money to cover the costs.
